KARACHI -- There are tremendous opportunities for collaboration and joint ventures in the field of pharmaceuticals between Islamic Republic of Iran and Islamic Republic of Pakistan. We can collaborate in the areas of contract manufacturing. Not only that Iran produces lot of pharmaceuticals raw material which we can export to Pakistan and similarly Pakistan can export certain materials to Iran. There are many other areas where we can work together, share our knowledge and experience. This was stated by Dr. Ali Montaseri visiting Iranian delegate to the Frist Pakistan Pharma Summit in an exclusive interview with Pulse International soonafter the summit before returning to Iran. He was one of the invited guest speakers from abroad at the Pharma Summit who made a presentation on Biotechnology- the Driving Force- Iran's experience. Dr. Ali Montaseri Managing Director of Jaber Ebne Hayyan Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company from Iran further stated that we are both Muslim countries and we have had very cordial relations throughout the history. Our governments have signed many Memorandums of Understandings (MOUs) in the past but not much has materialized. Private sector, he opined, will be much more efficient, hence let the private sector of both the countries come forward and singn a few MOUs in the field of Pharmaceuticals. Of course we will need government support but we are capable of achieving a lot, he remarked. Pakistan has many advantages and Iran has lot of strength in certain areas. We have made lot of progress in the field of biotechnology and stem cell research and we can share our experience in these areas. It is easy to discuss mutual understandings. There are many scientists and expertize in the field of human resource in Pakistan from which we can benefit.
